A RESOLUTION OF THE CAMPBELL CITY COUNCIL HONORING JASON BAKER
FOR HIS YEARS.OF SERVICE TO THE CITY
WHEREAS, on December 12, 2016, Councilmember and former Mayor Jason Baker
attended his last City Council meeting after eight years of dedicated service as a
Councilmember;
WHEREAS, Baker was first elected to the Campbell City Council in 2008 and served
again in 2012;
WHEREAS, he served as Mayor in 2011 and again 2016;
WHEREAS, appointed in 2014, Baker served on the Valley Transportation Authority
(VTA) Board of Directors representing the West Valley Cities of Campbell, Cupertino,
Monte Sereno, Saratoga and the Town of Los Gatos;
WHEREAS, he was a member of the VTA's Administration and Finance Committee, and
served as that committee's chairperson for 2016, after having served in the same
position for the latter portion of 2015;
WHEREAS, as a member of the Campbell City Council, Jason served on a number of
regional boards and commissions, particularly in the area of public safety and
emergency preparedness;
WHEREAS, he served in many capacities for the Santa Clara County Cities Association,
including as its representative to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission; as the
2015 Chairperson of its Board of Directors; and as Chairperson of its Santa Clara ,
County Emergency Operational Area Council;
WHEREAS, additional regional assignments included serving as Chairperson of the
Silicon Valley Regional Interoperability Authority Board, and as a Peninsula Division
representative to the California League of Cities Public Safety Committee which he has
done since 2010;
WHEREAS, Jason was a member and former Chair of the Civic Improvement
Commission;
WHEREAS, he has been a member of the Campbell Rotary service organization since
2005;
WHEREAS, Baker earned his Bachelor's degree in Political Science at UC Davis;
WHEREAS, he earned his law degree Cum Laude from the Santa Clara University
School of Law;
WHEREAS, Jason completed the "Senior Executives in State and Local Government"
executive education program at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government;
and
WHEREAS, Jason Baker is happily married to his wife, Mairead, and together they
have a son, Eamonn, and a daughter, Rowan.
AIOW, THEREFORE, BE YT RESOLVED that the City Council and stafF of the City of
Campbell express their deepest appreciation to Jason Baker for his years of public
service to the residents, businesses, and visitors of the City of Campbell, and wish him
well in the next phase of his life.
