A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, AUTHORIZING SOLICITATION OF
BIDS, AWARD OF CONTRACTS, ASSOCIATED ACTIONS, AND BUDGET
ADJUSTMENTS FOR THE ANNUAL STREET MAINTENANCE PROJECT 17-BB:
RESIDENTIAL RUBBER CAPE SEAL AND SLURRY SEAL PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City's Pavement Maintenance Program has identified various
residential streets in need of rehabilitation, and
WHEREAS, the City's Capital Project budget for Annual Street Maintenance includes
funding that can be allocated to the rehabilitation of these streets; and
WHEREAS, plans, specifications, and engineer's estimate for the rubber cape seal and
slurry seal treatments on the identified streets have been prepared and the City
Engineer will review the bids submitted and make a determination of the lowest
responsive and responsible bidder; and
WHEREAS, the encumbrance of a 10% construction contingency will allow for contract
adjustments for unforeseen complications associated with work during construction; and
WHEREAS, additional street maintenance funding is available from the Annual Street
Maintenance Project 16-BB: Local Street Sealing, the Vehicle Impact Fees, utility
relocations and the cost sharing agreement with the City of San Jose.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
hereby
1. Approves the plans and specifications for the Annual Street Maintenance Project
17-BB: Residential Rubber Cape Seal and Slurry Seal Project;
2. Authorizes the Public Works Director to solicit bids;
3. Authorizes the Public Works Director to award and execute a construction
contract and encumber a construction contingency to the lowest responsive and
responsible bidder in an amount not to exceed $ 2,645,908;
4. Authorizes the City Engineer to negotiate and execute contract change orders up
to and within the allotted construction contingency; and
5. Authorizes the Public Works Director to negotiate and execute the cost sharing
agreement with the City of San Jose for work on San Jose streets.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Campbell hereby
approves the budget adjustments to move the funds remaining in Project 16-BB and
$250,000 from Vehicle Impact Fees Fund Balance to Project 17-BB, and increase the
source of funds to include $100,200 of potential revenue from utility relocations and
$110,000 from the City of San Jose cost share.
