A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
AUTHORIZING THE EXTENSION OF THE CAMPBELL YOUTH COMMISSION PILOT
PROGRAM FOR AN ADDITIONAL TWO YEARS
WHEREAS, on January 6, 2015 the City Council approved a two year pilot program for
the Campbell Youth Commission; and
WHEREAS, a limited term Recreation Specialist was hired to establish the Youth
Commission and recruit Commissioners to address the goals and objectives outlined
from the Youth Engagement Steering Committee; and _
WHEREAS, the Campbell Youth Commission is comprised of 15 students who reside in
Campbell who are in the 7th -12th grades; and
WHEREAS, the Campbell Youth Commission has been very successful during the two
year pilot program and accomplished many work plan items including hosting a Teen
Job Fair, establishing a youth oriented website, presenting at board meetings to
partnering school districts, participating in events with other local youth commissions;
and
WHEREAS, the Recreation Specialist for the Youth Commission also coordinates the
Youth Work Experience Program and assists with the Summer Youth Volunteer
program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council authorizes the extension
of the Campbell Youth Commission Pilot Program for an additional two years through
June 30, 2019.
