A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
APPROVING THE CONCEPTUAL DESIGN FOR COMMUNITY CENTER PLAY AREA
DESIGN PROJECT 17-LL AND AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO
EXECUTE A CONSULTANT SERVICES CONTRACT AMENDMENT WITH SSA
LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS FOR COMMUNITY CENTER PLAY AREA
DESIGN PROJECT 17-LL
WHEREAS, the adopted FY 2017/18 Capital Improvement Plan includes funding for the
Community Center Play Area Design Project 17-LL; and
WHEREAS, on December 6, 2016, the City Council authorized the Public Works Director to
issue a request for proposals and retain a consultant for the conceptual design of the
Community Center Play Area; and
WHEREAS, following the consultant selection process, the firm of SSA Landscape
Architects (SSA) was selected as the most qualified consultant to prepare the Phase I
conceptual design for the Community Center Play Area; and
WHEREAS, SSA prepared the conceptual design for the Community Center Play Area
based on public input received through a community outreach effort; and
WHEREAS, SSA presented the conceptual design to the Parks and Recreation
Commission on June 7, 2017; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Commission recommended approval of the
conceptual design by City Council on June 7, 2017; and
WHEREAS, the Consultant Services Agreement consists of options for multiple phases
with Phase I focused on the conceptual design phase and public outreach; and
WHEREAS, Phase II of the Consultant Services Agreement will cover preparation of the
final design and contract documents with authorization for Phase II to be considered by the
City Council in conjunction with the approval of the conceptual design.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
hereby approves the conceptual design for Community Center Play Area Design Project
17LL as prepared by SSA Landscape Architects; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Public Works Director is hereby authorized to
negotiate and execute a Consultant Services Contract Amendment with SSA Landscape
Architects for the Phase II final design of the Community Center Play Area Design Project
17-LL in an amount not to exceed $30,000 and encumber an additional $5,000 as a design
contingency for a total amount not to exceed $35,000.
