A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
AUTHORIZING THE CONCEPTUAL APPROVAL OF THE HARRIET AVENUE
TRAFFIC CALMING PROJECT
WHEREAS, Caltrans has approved the use of Federal Highway Safety Improvement
Program (HSIP) Cycle 8 funds for the Harriet Avenue Traffic Calming Project (Project);
and
WHEREAS, the Project would slow down Harriet Avenue traffic by installing speed
humps at various mid-block locations and narrowing travel lanes; and
WHEREAS, the Project would replace the existing flashing beacon system at Harriet
Avenue/McCoy Avenue with a pedestrian hybrid beacon; and
WHEREAS, the Project would construct bulb-outs, buffered and/or green bike lanes,
and curb ramps and widen the sidewalk over San Tomas Aquino Creek; and
WHEREAS, these features would improve the walking and bicycling experience on
Harriet Avenue; and
WHEREAS, on October 5 staff met with representatives from the San Tomas Area
Community Coalition to discuss the Project; and
WHEREAS, on October 12 staff hosted a public meeting at the Campbell Community
Center to present the Project scope, receive public feedback, and answer questions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
hereby.approves the concept of the Harriet Avenue Traffic Calming Project.
