BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CAMPBELL APPROVING AN ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT PLAN WHICH REFLECTS THE
EXPECTATIONS OF THE CITY COUNCIL AND TO
FURTHER IMPLEMENT THE GOALS, POLICIES AND
STRATEGIES OF THE GENERAL PLAN.
WHEREAS, in 1995 the City Council adopted an Economic Development Plan that
acknowledged the importance and necessity of maintaining a sound and stable
commercial tax base to support and provide quality municipal services;
WHEREAS, in 2006 the City Council adopted an Economic Development Strategy to
help diversify its focus on a broader scale to assist local business utilizing
redevelopment programs;
WHEREAS, the City Council continues to recognize the importance of maintaining a
current Economic Development Plari that removes outdated and unfunded programs
while refocusing staffing duties and responsibilities to assist local businesses;
WHEREAS, the Economic Development Plan would repeal and replace the existing
2006 Economic Development Strategy;
WHEREAS, the adoption of ah Economic Development Plan is not a project subject to
the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA);
WHEREAS, the Council recognizes that the Economic Development Plan is a proactive
tool to focus staffs attention to retaining existing business while findings ways to attract
new business into the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council adopts a Resolution
approving an Economic Development Plan that will repeal and replace the existing 2006
Economic Development Strategy as set forth in Exhibit A.
