BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CAMPBELL AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN
AGREEMENT SETTING FORTH TERMS UNDER WHICH THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT MAY PROVIDE ARSON INVESTIGATORS TO THE SANTA
CLARA COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the Santa Clara County Fire Protection District currently
employs sworn police officers to investigate all criminal'acts related to the origin
and cause of fire (arson);
WHEREAS, the Santa Clara County Fire Protection District would like to
contract with the Campbell Police Department to provide two full-time, sworn
police officers to take over investigations of all arsons within their served
jurisdictions;
WHEREAS, the Santa Clara County Fire Protection District will pay the
City of Campbell for the salary and benefits for these two investigators as well as
additional funds for training, personnel protective equipment, and vehicle
maintenance;
WHEREAS, the contract for these services will last for five years, with
provisions for extension and cessation by either party;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Campbell that the City Manager is authorized to execute an agreement that
substantially conforms to the terms and provisions set forth in the Agreement and
Exhibits attached to this Resolution...
