A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
COMMENDING LAURA SMITH FOR 19 YEARS OF SERVICE
WHEREAS, Laura Smith was hired by the City of Campbell on November 16, 1998 as a Clerk-
Typist in the Recreation & Community Services Department; and
WHEREAS, Laura Smith was reclassified to Office Assistant on July 8, 2002; promoted to
Senior Office Assistant in 2008 and reclassified to Office Specialist in 2017; and
WHEREAS, Laura Smith worked with thousands of rental clients to reserve rooms at the
Community Center for important family events such as weddings, baptisms, birthdays and
memorials; and
WHEREAS, Laura Smith worked with corporate clients and non-profits to host business
meetings, trainings and conferences at the Community Center; and
WHEREAS, the demand for the newly renovated Orchard City Banquet Hall, Roosevelt
Redwood Room and Mary Campbell room increased Laura Smith's workload greatly and
contributed to additional revenue for the City; and
WHEREAS, Laura Smith served 6 years on the Campbell Municipal Employee Association's
board serving as Secretary, Vice President and President; and
WHEREAS, Laura Smith is a master problem solver who works well under pressure and exudes
grace; compassion and patience; and
WHEREAS, Laura Smith is a wonderful example of teamwork; often helping by picking up
paychecks; doing the mail run to City Hall and assisting with class registrations; and
WHEREAS, Laura Smith's kindness, thoughtfulness, warmth and fun sense of humor will be
greatly missed by all of her coworkers; and
WHEREAS, Laura Smith will enjoy retirement with her husband, Larry, children Shara and
Angela; and grandchildren Trey and JJ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell does
hereby express its appreciation to Laura Smith for nineteen years of loyal and dedicated service
and offers its best wishes for a fulfilling retirement.
