BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
COMMENDING SOPHIE KAO ON HER 18 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITY OF
CAMPBELL UPON HER RETIREMENT
WHEREAS, Sophie Kao was hired by the City of Campbell on March 13, 2000, as an
Accountant and, for the past 18 years, she was responsible for the accurate and timely
recording and reporting of transactions, maintenance of the general ledger, accounting
for capital projects and grants, reconciling bank accounts, reporting for the Senior
Nutrition program and affordable housing loan program, accounting for the City's
investment portfolio and served as the payroll processing backup; and,
WHEREAS, Sophie assisted in the annual budget development process and, during her
tenure, served as a volunteer income tax preparer to the Campbell community for many
years, assisting low income residents by preparing their annual tax returns; and
WHEREAS, Sophie has a wealth of knowledge and experience that she brought to her
position through her previous 14 years of work in the high technology industry and
receipt of a Master's degree in Public Communications and a Master's degree in
Business Administration; and
WHEREAS, Sophie was a valued and integral member of the Finance Department and
the City of Campbell who faithfully discharged her duties to the best of her ability each
day she was at work and always strived to produce the highest quality work product.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
recognizes 'and commends Sophie Kao on her retirement from the City of Campbell
after 18 years of service and expresses its appreciation and gratitude for her many
contributions to the City.
PASSED AND ADOPTED, this 1St day of May, 2018, by the City Council of the City of
Campbell, California, as follows:
