A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
DECLARING JULY 2018 AS PARKS MAKE LIFE BETTER MONTH
WHEREAS, the City of Campbell provides beautiful parks as well as engaging
recreation programs; and
WHEREAS, Campbell residents benefit from well-maintained open space at places
such as Campbell Park, Jack Fischer Park, Edith Morley Park and the Campbell
Community Center; and
WHEREAS, Recreation programs such as summer camps, skateboarding, swim
lessons, senior nutrition, preschool fitness classes, sports leagues and summer
concerts encourage residents to build a stronger community by socializing with friends
and neighbors; and
WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation programs also preserve the historic and cultural
resources in our community such as the Campbell Historical Museum, Ainsley House
and Heritage Theatre; and
WHEREAS, each year since 1985, the U.S. House of Representatives designates the
month of July as National Parks & Recreation month; and
WHEREAS, the California Parks and. Recreation Society promotes the importance of
Parks .and Recreation programs through the state-wide Parks Make Life Better
campaign and the new Agents of Discovery app.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby declares the
month of July 2018 as Parks Make Life Better Month.
