BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL RECOGNIZING SANTA CLARA COUNTY
SUPERVISOR KEN YEAGER FOR HIS SERVICES
WHEREAS, Ken Yeager, was first elected to the Santa Clara County Board of
Supervisors in June 2008 to represent the 4th District, which includes the cities of
Campbell, Santa Clara, West San Jose as well as the unincorporated Cambrian and
Burbank districts; and
WHEREAS, Ken Yeager, served as an elected official in Santa Clara County for 25
years beginning with his time as a San Jose/Evergreen College Board Trustee, then as
a San Jose City Councilmember and now as a Santa Clara County Supervisor; and
WHEREAS, Ken Yeager, is committed to the health and well-being of the residents of
Santa Clara County and has produced several ordinances to reduce youth smoking and
protect residents from secondhand smoke;-and
WHEREAS, Ken Yeager, is also a proponent of expanding and improving public transit
system and founded an internal policy committee to address fair representation on the
Metropolitan Transportation Commission which led to the passage of state legislation to
add a seat for the City of San Jose; and
WHEREAS, Ken Yeager, was the first openly gay elected official in Santa Clara County
and is. committed to safeguarding the rights and representation of the LGBTQ
community in local government and has created the Office of LGBTQ Affairs to ensure
the needs and resources for this community are being utilized efficiently; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
commends Supervisor Ken Yeager on his services and recognizes his contributions
and involvement in Santa Clara County and the Campbell.community.
