BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CAMPBELL INITIATING A GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT
APPLICATION TO ALLOW 1308 PARSONS AVENUE AND A
PORTION OF 1336 PARSONS AVENUE TO CHANGE THEIR
RESPECTIVE GENERAL PLAN LAND USE DESIGNATIONS
FROM PROFESSIONAL OFFICE AND LOW -DENSITY
RESIDENTIAL (LESS THAN SIX UNITS PER GROSS ACRE) TO
NEIGHBORHOOD COMMERCIAL. FILE NO.: PRE2019-02
WHEREAS, the purpose of the City's General Plan is to guide decisions regarding
physical growth and development, provision of public services and facilities, and
conservation and enhancement of natural resources; and
WHEREAS, the General Plan establishes a foundation upon which the City Council and
Commissions can base policy decisions and a basis for judging whether specific
development proposals and public projects are in harmony with community desires; and
WHEREAS, the General Plan is intended to be a living document and, as such, will be
subject'to site specific and comprehensive amendments over time; and
WHEREAS, an amendment to the General Plan may be initiated only by the City
Council; and
WHEREAS, the pre -authorization process does not replace, but is ancillary to, the land
use application process and does not result in a decision with regard to land use
entitlements, and nothing contained in the process precludes either the Planning
Commission or the City Council from approving or denying a subsequent formal land use
application.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
does hereby initiate a General Plan Amendment application to allow 1308 Parsons
Avenue and a portion of 1336 Parsons Avenue to change their respective General Plan
land use designations from Professional Office and Low -Density Residential (less than
six units per gross acre) to Neighborhood Commercial as set forth in Exhibit A.
