A RESOLUTION OF THE CAMPBELL CITY COUNCIL
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TWO NEW POLICE MOTORCYCLES
WHEREAS, staff is requesting the purchase of two, new BMW R 1250 RT-P motorcycles
at a cost of approximately $28,000 each, plus sales tax and license fees; and
WHEREAS, procurement of two new Police motorcycles _is authorized in the FY 2019/20
Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance Budget; and
iWHEREAS, in accordance with the City's Municipal Code 3:20.050, Council approval is
required for the procurement of supplies and equipment if the estimated fair market value
is greater than $50,000; and
WHEREAS,\ Campbell Municipal Code Section 3.20.030(7) provides that the formal
bidding procedures may be dispensed with by the City Council when it is determined that
it is in the best interest of the public to dispense with the formal bidding requirements
set forth in Section 3.20.050; and
WHEREAS, BMW R 1250 - RT-P motorcycles have been identified as the recommended
replacement vehicles for. the existing Campbell Police Honda motorcycles referenced in
the associated staff report; and
WHEREAS, Long Beach BMW has been identified as the most cost-effective supplier of
these motorcycles due to their ability to provide turnkey. motorcycles for public safety
agencies throughout the State.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
hereby. dispenses with the formal bidding requirements and. approves the purchase of two
new BMW R 1250 RT-P motorcycles at a cost of approximately $28,000 each, plus sales
tax and license fees for a total amount not to -exceed $62,000.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager
or his designess to execute purchase agreements for the two motorcycle equipment.
