RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CAMPBELL
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT TO PURCHASE
POLICE DEPARTMENT SECURITY CAMERAS AND INSTALLATION SERVICES. FROM
EDGEWORTH INTEGRATION AND APPROVING NECESSARY BUDGET MODIFICATIONS
WHEREAS, in May 2019, the Police Department experienced a failure in their security camera
system due to a power surge. The camera system could not be repaired due to its age and the
fact the system is no longer able to be supported from an Information Technology (IT)
standpoint; and
WHEREAS, these cameras are essential to site security not only for the Police Department but
the entire City Hall building; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department, with assistance from the Finance Department, filed a claim
of damage with our City insurance risk pool, PLAN JPA, in the amount of $133,393.77 to cover
the cost of replacing the security cameras, and was awarded $117,008.92 for the claim; and
WHEREAS, Campbell Municipal Code Section 3.20.030 (3) allows the formal bidding
procedures set forth in Section 3.20.050 to be dispensed with by the City Council when it is
determined that an emergency situation creates a threat to the public safety; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department would like to use $16,384.85 from our Asset Forfeiture Fund
to cover the difference between the actual cost and what was provided by the insurance
company.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell hereby
authorizes the city manager to execute an agreement to purchase security cameras from
Edgeworth Integration for the Police Department in the amount of $133,393.77 and approves all
necessary budget modifications described in the accompanying City Council report and
incorporated by reference.
