A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
APPROVING THE FINAL CONCEPTUAL DESIGN FOR THE JOHN D.
MORGAN PARK (BUDD AVENUE) IMPROVEMENT PROJECT 18-PP
WHEREAS, the City has secured a grant from Santa Clara County All-inclusive
Playground Grant Program (AIPG) in the amount of $1 million to renovate the children's
play lot on the southern end of the John D. Morgan Park (Budd Avenue) by replacing it
with an all-inclusive play area; and
WHEREAS, the City has budgeted an additional $1 million for the project; and
WHEREAS, staff sought community input to develop two conceptual playground
designs for all-inclusive play at John D. Morgan Park; and
WHEREAS, the community input heavily influenced the preparation of two conceptual
playground designs; and
WHEREAS, the two conceptual designs were presented to the City Council for input at
the February 4, 2020 City Council Study Session; and
WHEREAS, the Final Conceptual Design was presented to the Parks and Recreation
Commission (PRC); and
WHEREAS, the PRC provided comments and has recommended the City Council to
approve the Final Conceptual Design; and
WHEREAS, The Final Conceptual Design is based on the preferred Conceptual
Alternative 1 with the "Fun in the Forest" theme; and
WHEREAS, the total project budget is $2.1 million of which $1 million is funded by the
Santa Clara County All Inclusive Playground Grant Program (AIPG); and
WHEREAS, AIPG grant agreement requires the playground to open for use . by
November 1, 2021 including full project closeout.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
hereby approve the Final Conceptual Design for the John D. Morgan Park (Budd
Avenue) Improvement Project 18-PP.
