CC Resolution 12590RESOLUTION NO. 12590
BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
DESIGNATING THE "METRO NEWS" AS THE NEWSPAPER OF GENERAL
CIRCULATION FOR THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
WHEREAS, various statutes require the City to post legal notices in three public places
or publish in a newspaper of general circulation: and
WHEREAS, California Government Code sections 6000 et. seq. and 6008 allow a
publication to become adjudicated as a newspaper of general circulation in its particular
jurisdiction of adjudication; and
WHEREAS, the Campbell Express has been the only newspaper of general circulation
published in the City of Campbell; and
WHEREAS, the Campbell Express has ceased to regularly publish its newspaper; and
WHEREAS, the "Metro News" publishes local news of general character, has a bona fide
subscription list of paying subscribers, has been adjudicated as a newspaper of general
circulation, and has been generally circulated in the City of Campbell.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Campbell as
follows:
1. In the absence of a newspaper of general circulation publishing within the City of
Campbell, the City Clerk is authorized to publish in a newspaper of general circulation
published nearest to the City, or to post in at least three locations in the City, such as City
Hall, the Community Center and the Campbell library when posting is an allowed
alternative; and
2. The "Metro News" is designated as the preferred newspaper of general circulation for
purposes of publishing publications that are required to be placed in a newspaper of
general circulation.
3. Nothing in this resolution is intended to preclude publication in another newspaper of
general circulation nearest to the City if publication in the "Metro News" becomes
impractical or unavailing.
