A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
APPROVING THE QUINQUENNIAL (5-YEAR) SPEED SURVEY
AND RECOMMENDATIONS
WHEREAS, enforcement of speed limits in the City of Campbell requires that speed limits
be based on recent speed and traffic engineering studies; and
WHEREAS, the State of California Vehicle Code Section 40802(a) requires that these
surveys be performed every five years; and
WHEREAS, the surveys previously approved by the City Council were performed in 2015
and will have expired in the Year 2020; and
WHEREAS, all streets were surveyed in Year 2020 that are currently classified as
collectors or arterials on the latest (1992) maps submitted to the Federal Highway
Administration by the California Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, all other streets have a default or prima facie speed limit of 25 miles per hour
and are not required to be surveyed unless safety considerations dictate a lower speed;
and
WHEREAS, no changes in the posted speed limits are recommended at this time.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Campbell that
the City Council approves the attached 2020 Quinquennial Speed Survey and
recommended prima facie speed limits.
