BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CAMPBELL GRANTING AUTHORIZATION TO PROCEED
WITH FORMAL SUBMITTAL OF AN APPLICATION FOR A
GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT TO CHANGE THE LAND USE
DESIGNATION OF PROPERTY LOCATED AT 700 W.
HAMILTON AVENUE, FROM 'GENERAL COMMERCIAL' TO
'RESIDENTIAL/ COMMERCIAL/ PROFESSIONAL OFFICE'.

WHEREAS, the purpose of the City's General Plan is to guide decisions
regarding physical growth and development, provision of public services and facilities,
and conservation and enhancement of natural resources;
WHEREAS, the General Plan establishes a foundation upon which the City can
base policy decisions and a basis for judging whether specific development proposals
and public projects are in harmony with community desires;
WHEREAS, the General Plan is intended to be a living document and, as such,
will be subject to site specific and comprehensive amendments over time;
WHEREAS, pursuant to Campbell Municipal Code Section (CMC) 21.60.020.A,
an amendment to the General Plan may be initiated only by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the public necessity,
convenience, and general welfare will be served by creation of additional housing units.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
grants authorization to proceed with formal submittal of a General Plan Amendment to
amend the General Plan Land Use Map to redesignate property located at 700 W.
Hamilton Avenue from 'General Commercial' to 'Residential/Commercial/Professional
Office,' subject to a concurrent submittal of an application for a Development Agreement
to provide for additional density, a mix of housing types, an increased percentage of
below-market-rate (BMR) housing units, and private maintenance of the public park.
Further, the applicant shall also submit three site design options as part of the
mandatory preliminary application for review by the City Council.
