A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL TO
ESTABLISH STAGE 3 POTABLE WATER RESTRICTIONS TO CORRESPOND WITH
THE WATER CONSERVATION GOAL OF 33% COMPARED TO 2013 USAGE
WHEREAS, on June 9, 2021, the Board of Directors of Santa Clara Valley Water
District declared a water shortage emergency condition in Santa Clara County and
called for a 15% reduction in water usage County wide as compared to 2019 usage,
33% of 2013 usage; and
WHEREAS, on June 15, 2021, the Santa Clara County Director of Emergency Services
proclaimed a local emergency related to extreme drought conditions; and
WHEREAS, on June 22, 2021, the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors adopted a
resolution ratifying the June 15, 2021, proclamation by the Director of Emergency
Services; and
WHEREAS, on June 23, 2021, Campbell's water retail supplier, San Jose Water
Company, supported Santa Clara Valley Water District's call for water conservation and
implemented Stage 3 of their agency's Water Shortage Contingency Plan; and
WHEREAS, on July 8, 2021, California Governor Gavin Newsom extended his previous
drought proclamation to include Santa Clara County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
does hereby adopt Stage 3 drought restrictions as presented in Chapter 8.34 of the
Campbell Municipal Code — Potable Water Use Restrictions, with the goal of water use
reductions of 33% of 2013 water usage.
