A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO THE WATER TOWER LIGHTING POLICY AND
SCHEDULE TO UPDATE THE COLOR THEME FOR 9/11 AND TO ADD THE
ANNIVERSARY OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL'S DATE OF INCORPORATION
WHEREAS, the lighting of the City of Campbell's water tower helps the City of Campbell
raise awareness of national holidays and special events, and fosters a stronger sense of
community for Campbell residents.; and
WHEREAS, changing the 9/11 color theme to "lights out" on the anniversary of that day is
an appropriate way to honor the more than 3,000 individuals who lost their lives; and
WHEREAS, the City of Campbell has grown from a small farming community with a
population of approximately 5,000 to a community with a population of over 43,000; and
WHEREAS, the City of Campbell was officially incorporated on March 28, 1952; and
WHEREAS, lighting the City of Campbell water tower every year on March 28 will allow
the City of Campbell to recognize this proud day in the City of Campbell's history; and
WHEREAS, lighting the City of Campbell's water tower in the colors of blue and gold is an
appropriate way to celebrate this occasion;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Campbell
does hereby direct staff to amend City Council Policy 1.29 to change the 9/11 color theme
to "lights out" and to add the City of Campbell's anniversary of incorporation to the existing
water tower lighting schedule so that the water tower is lit annually on March 28 with the
colors blue and gold.
