A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
EXTENDING THE DOWNTOWN CAMPBELL PARKLET
PROGRAM TO CONTINUE TEMPORARILY EXPANDED
OUTDOOR DINING AND BUSINESS OPERATIONS TO MARCH
28, 2023.
WHEREAS, the Campbell City Council proclaimed a state of emergency on March 17,
2020 in response to COVID-19 following the World Health Organization's escalation of
COVID-19 to a pandemic, and following declarations of states of emergency made at the
County, State, and Federal levels to slow the spread of COVID-19;
WHEREAS, on September 1, 2020, the Campbell City Council adopted Resolution 12634
authorizing establishment of the Downtown Campbell Parklet Program, in response to the
COVID-19 pandemic allowing for the temporary expansion of outdoor business and dining
operations in parklets located in on -street parking stalls located along East Campbell
Avenue between the light rail tracks to just past Third Street;
WHEREAS, the Downtown Campbell Parklet Program has been extended multiple times
since it was established, in response to the ongoing state of emergency and to avoid
disruption to downtown restaurants still covering from the impacts of the pandemic until
such time a Semi -Permanent Parklet Program could be established;
WHEREAS, on July 5, 2022, the Campbell City Council adopted Resolution 12859
approving the establishment of a Semi -Permanent Parklet Program and adopted
Resolution 12860 extending the Downtown Campbell Parklet Program to continue
temporarily expanded outdoor dining and business operations to January 9, 2023; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to continue temporary expanded outdoor dining and
business operations to March 28, 2023.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Campbell that
the Downtown Campbell Parklet Program be extended to March 28, 2023, subject to the
following:
1. All temporary parklets shall terminate expanded outdoor dining and business
operations in on -street parking stalls and City -owned parking lots and remove all
improvements related to their use including, but not limited to, decking, tables,
heaters, and chairs by the close of business on March 28, 2023; and
2. Traffic lanes on East Campbell Avenue and in the Downtown Area shall remain
open to vehicle traffic.
