A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO THE SECOND AMENDED AGREEMENT FOR
CITY MANAGER SERVICES WITH BRIAN LOVENTHAL, AN ONE-TIME RETRO-
ACTIVE PAYMENT FOR CITY MANAGER SERVICES, AND AN AMENDMENT TO
THE CITY'S SALARY SCHEDULE FOR THE CITY MANAGER CLASSIFICATION
WHEREAS, the City Council appointed Brian Loventhal as City Manager,
effective December 5, 2016; and
WHEREAS, the City Department Heads have recently received compensation
increases that have resulted in compensation compaction between the Police Chief
classification and the City Manager classification; and
WHEREAS, in keeping with Campbell Personnel Rules and Regulations section
4.3.C.1, the City Council desires to amend the City Manager's compensation to mitigate
the compaction between the salary of the Police Chief classification and the City
Manager classification; and
WHEREAS, the compaction between the salary of the Police Chief classification
and the City Manager classification has existed since January 25, 2021; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to address the compaction issue and
compensate the City Manager for any retro-active compensation due.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby authorizes:
(1) an amendment to the Second Amended Agreement for City Manager Services with
Brian Loventhal to reflect an increase in the City Manager's salary from $290,804.80 to
$304,574.40 per year commencing retroactively to the first full pay period in July 2022;
(2) a one-time payment of $8,307.20 to be made to the City Manager on or before
December 8, 2022 as retroactive compensation for the period of January 25, 2021 to
November 27, 2022; and (3) an amendment to the City's Salary Schedule for the City
Manager Classification.
