BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL APPROVING THE
CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY PLAN
WHEREAS, the City Manager is required by Section 2.12.030 of the Campbell
Municipal Code to prepare and submit to the City Council his recommendations
for the reorganization of offices, departments, and positions which he
considers to be in the best interest of efficient, effective, and economical
conduct of the municipal services provided by the City; and
WHEREAS, a review has been conducted; and
WHEREAS, an amendment to the current Classification and Salary Plan is
needed to meet the requirements of Municipal Code Section 2.12.030.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of _
Campbell does hereby approve a new management position of Senior Planner, and
does hereby approve a new management position of Senior Planner, and does also
herby approve the job specification and salary range as presented in the
attached Exhibit A.

SENIOR PLANNER
DEFINITION
Under general direction, to perform difficult and responsible City
planning and administrative work; to conduct or coordinate major studies,
projects or programs; to be responsible for a major functional area as
assigned; to assist in the supervision of subordinate personnel; and to do
related work as required.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Serves as a division head for long-range or current planning program;
assists in the supervision of subordinate professional, technical and
clerical personnel; serves as liaison to committees and public groups, and_
attends City Council, Planning Commission, and other related meetings as
required; provides information to the public on planning, zoning and
subdivision matters and interprets laws and policies for other City
employees and the public as necessary; meets with and advises property
owners and developers on a variety of planning matters; updates the
General Plan and other related documents; oversees data collection
analysis for reports and studies, and conducts field inspections; prepares
zoning amendments and environmental impact studies; and performs other
duties as required.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education and Experience: Graduation from a recognized university or
college with a degree in Planning or closely
related field, plus three years of increasingly
responsible professional planning experience (a
Master's degree in Planning or closely related
field may be substituted for one year of
experience).
Knowledge of: Principles and practices of city planning and
design, including an understanding of the
fundamentals of economics, municipal finance,
sociology, engineering and urban design.
Ability to: Organize, supervise, and carry out complex
research projects and present results
effectively in written and graphic form as well
as orally; work effectively with City
officials, architects, developers and
contractors, and other agencies and the general
public.
Possession of: Valid California Driver's License.
Possession of AICP Professional Planner
Certificate is highly desirable.
