A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
CONGRATULATING SPORTS BASEMENT ON THEIR SELECTION AS 2022
BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
WHEREAS, Sports Basement has been selected by the Campbell Chamber of
Commerce as the 2022 Business of the Year in recognition of successful business
operations in the Campbell community, and was honored on March 11, 2023 at the
annual "Celebrate Campbell" banquet; and
WHEREAS, Sports Basement opened its Campbell location in 2013: and
WHEREAS, Sports Basement has grown from a one-off shop in a San Francisco
warehouse open only on the weekends to 10 fully stocked Bay Area locations; and
WHEREAS, Sports Basement has added a rental program, and developed in-house
ski shops and bike shops; and
WHEREAS, Ten percent of Sports Basement's earnings are redistributed into the
community through their Basementeers program; and
WHEREAS, the Sports Basement Basementeers program helps to partner with
thousands of local schools and non -profits, and has donated over 10 million dollars to
the community through these partnerships; and
WHEREAS, Sports Basement locations are a hub for local clubs, non -profits, and
corporate partners, hosting over 7,000 events a year, which equates to about 20 events
per day around the Bay; and
WHEREAS, the Sports Basement Campbell has been a supporter of the fun runs
through the donation of store certificates.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
congratulates Sports Basement, on being named Campbell's 2022 Business of the
Year and recognizes their valued service to the Campbell community and continued
involvement in civic endeavors.
