A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CAMPBELL AWARDING SOCIAL SERVICE SUBGRANTS AS
RECOMMENDED BY THE CIVIC IMPROVEMENT COMMISSION
WHEREAS, each year, the Civic Improvement Commission (CIC) is responsible for
making funding recommendations to the City Council for the allocation of the City's
Social Service Subgrant funds to qualified non-profit social service agencies; and
WHEREAS, this year, there were a total of 7 applicants which include: Catholic
Charities, The Health Trust, Live Oak Adult Day Services, Next Door Solutions to
Domestic Violence (Next Door), St. Lucy Conference of the Society of St. Vincent
DePaul, Senior Adults Legal Assistance (SALA), and Counseling and Support
Services for Youth (GASSY); and
WHEREAS, on June 20, 2023, through the budget adoption process for Fiscal Year
(FY) 2024, the City Council approved a funding increase of $10,000 for a total funding
amount of $65,000 in the FY24 funding cycle; and
WHEREAS, On June 22,2023, following the City Council's approval to award a total
of $65,000 in Social Service Subgrant funds, the CIC met and discussed each
applicant's request for funding; and
WHEREAS, among the factors the CIC considered to determine what amount of
funding they would recommend be awarded to each applicant was the number of
clients each applicant served, increases and decreases in services provided since
the last time an applicant received grant funds, the depth 'of .the services each
applicant rendered, and whether the agency was a previous or new applicant; and
WHEREAS, the CIC voted to recommend that the City Council award Social Service
Subgrant funds to the above applicants for FY24 as follows:
• Catholic Charities - $6,500,
• The Health Trust - $16,000,
• Live Oak Adult Day Services - $7,000,
• Next Door - $4,000,
• St. Lucy Conference of the Society of St. Vincent DePaul - $15,000,
• SALA - $12,000, and
• CASSY - $4,500; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council that as of July 1,
2023, the amount of $65,000 be allocated among and granted to the applicants
of the Social Service Subgrant Program in the amounts recommended by the
Civic Improvement Commission, as more specifically laid out in this resolution.
