THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
APPROVE A COST SHARE AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF SAN JOSE IN THE NOT TO
EXCEED AMOUNT OF $121,000; AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
SAID AGREEMENT AND THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO PERFORM ASSOCIATED BUDGET
ADJUSTMENTS
WHEREAS, the City of Campbell has routinely partnered with neighboring agencies to implement
pavement improvements on streets that border the neighboring jurisdictions; and
WHEREAS, this year, the City of San Jose is preparing a pavement project to resurface San
Tomas Aquino Road which includes segments within the City of Campbell; and
WHEREAS, the two locations with shared bordering jurisdiction are: 1) the southbound approach
on San Tomas Aquino Road at Bucknall Road; and 2) the southbound approach on Fenian Drive
from San Tomas Aquino Road to the beginning of Harriet Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the preventive pavement maintenance is anticipated to extend the useful pavement
life by approximately 20 years for Campbell's portion of San Tomas Aquino Road and would
create consistent road surface conditions; and
WHEREAS, the project in conjunction with pavement resurfacing, will achieve a continuous
bicycle corridor to connect the existing bike lanes to the south on Harriet Avenue in Campbell;
and
WHEREAS, a cost share agreement between the cities of Campbell and San Jose is necessary
to facilitate this partnership opportunity; and
WHEREAS, Campbell would compensate San Jose for Campbell's share of the cost for the
agreed work to be performed in the not to exceed amount of $121,000; and
WHEREAS, the proposed project is an appropriate use of Vehicle Impact Fees (Fund 202).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell hereby: 1)
approve the cost share agreement with the City of San Jose in the not to exceed amount of
$121,000; 2) authorize the City Manager to execute said agreement; and 3) authorize the Finance
Director to perform associated budget adjustments.
