RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL APPROVING
THE INSTALLATION OF A STORYWALK TO BE PLACED AT JACK FISCHER
PARK AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A MEMORANDUM
OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY LIBRARY DISTRICT
WHEREAS, The Santa Clara County Library District is seeking out opportunities to
partner with other agencies to expand literacy opportunities with the community; and
WHEREAS, promoting literacy and outdoor recreation opportunities for community
members enhances the quality of life with our community; and
WHEREAS, StoryWalks have proven to be effective in encouraging reading, physical
activity, and family engagement in parks and public spaces; and
WHEREAS, Jack Fischer Park has been identified as a location that draws children and
families; and
WHEREAS, an existing path along the perimeter of the turf is an ideal location for the
installation;and
WHEREAS, the Santa Clara County Library District Foundation will fund the purchase of
the signs; and
WHEREAS, the StoryWalk will be in collaboration with the Santa Clara Library District
where they will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and for regularly rotating the
stories three times per year; and
WHEREAS, the project aligns with the City's General Plan policy CSF-2.g — Identify
partnership opportunities between municipalities, other agencies, and library to support
organizations to expand library facilities, resources and services;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Campbell authorizes the
installation of a StoryWalk at Jack Fischer Park and authorize the City Manager to execute
an MOU with the Santa Clara County Library District.
