S, Hetzel City Manager City of Campbell Campbell, California Re: Tract 2914 Drainage Dear Sir: Mr. Frank Shepherd has proposed development of an unincorporated area which lies between Leigh Avenue and Midway Street along the extension of Campbell Avenue. In conjunction with this development it is necessary that the developer improve Midway and Campbell Avenue. This will create the necessity of intercepting storm water drainage which now flows from the present terminus of Campbell Avenue on to the undeveloped orchard lands. The grades in the area are such that it is not possible to divert the water by surface to streets to the north nor is it possible to tie into the Appyo Seco storm line south of the property. This means that a new storm line must be constructed from Leigh Avenue through to Midway with catch basins located within the incorporated area of the City of Campbell at the north- west and southwest corner of the intersection. The developer's engineers, Creegan & D'Angelo have designed such a system. The estimated cost of the project is $11,614.25. A study of the drainage area involved indicates that the City of Campbell contributes more than one-half the drainage to be intercepted by the line for a value of $6,521.53. Enclosed is a copy of the storm sewer fee analysis developed by the engineer and an aerial photo of the area proposed for development. Mr. M. S. Hetzel -2- March 7, 1961 It is requested by the developer that same type of an agreement between the City of Campbell, the County Department of Public Works and the Flood Control District be worked out to assist in defraying the construction costs of the storm line. It is understood that the City of Campbell has participated in similar developments in the past. We will appreciate your earliest review of this matter. The consulting engineers will furnish the City on request with a plan delineating the precise drainage area involved. Please contact this office if you wish further details on the development.
