Dear Sir:
I understand there may be some confusion on your part as to the im-
provements! along your frontage that you and I discussed earl ier this
year. This letter is to clarify that situation.
The Department of Publ ic Works is concerned that vehicles are parking
on publ ic right-of-way in front of your place of business, effectively
reducing vlsibil ity for drivers entering and exiting your driveway and
the drivew~ys of adjacent properties. We feel committed to take some
positive açtion to el iminate this hazard. Toward that goal we will be
install inglcurbing along the right-of-way on your property and the
adjacent property, physically prohibiting such parking.
We have ma~e the offer to you and to the adjacent property owner to
work with tou in the placement of the curbing, and to allow you to
contract d¡rectly with the concrete contractor the City will use,
should you Ides ire to install addional curbing on site.
'You will r~call that earl ier this year we painted Some prospective curb
geometries i in front of your parcel for your review. Subsequently, I
received a ¡call from the owner of your parcel requesting information
about what !we were proposing to do. We were instructed to take no addi-
tional actilon unti I she got back to us.
It is our ynderstanding that concurrently with this action you have had
some speci~ic requirements imposed upon you by the Planning Commission.
The Publ ic IWorks Department is not specifically involved with that action
and any arnangements we make in reference to the curbing in front is sep-
I
arate to anld not dependent upon Planning Commission conditions. I would

suggest thait you speak to Hr. Ph i I Stafford of the PI ann i ng Department
if you are !not completely clear on the conditions imposed upon you by
the Plannin!g Commission.
Since we re~eived specific instructions from the owner of your parcel
to do nothing until she responds, it is our intent to go ahead with
the curb plßcement within the publ ic right-of-way independent of any
actions you may take to meet the Planning Commission requirements.
This will, bf course, involve no expense to you and will not involve
the parcel ~hat you lease.
Very truly yours,
