We have investigated the cracked driveway approach and feel that the crack is not superficial but is infact all the way through the slab. We are willing to gamble, with you, that there will not be further separation of this crack in the future. In order for us to take this gamble and avoid you having to remove and replace a portion of the slab, we will require the extension of the maintenance bond for one additional year. If the crack does not become larger or longer in that time we will be willing to accept the work. Please contact the undersigned as soon as possible regarding this suggestion. Attn: Dear Mr. Elliot, Regarding correspondence of dificiencies in public work improvements we have inspected the area ourselves and observed the following: The drive entrance maintains only a superficial hair- line crack that has no potentiality of structural failure in any way. It is most common with slab on grade installations. Being in the construction business I see this occurance quite frequently with any recourse action being totally unwarranted.
