We are writin? in behalf of the Service StatiQn secured bv
Mr. William Head, located a~5~ilton AV~. in vour
city of Campbell.
We are most anxious to build a model Service Station that
will he an asset to Campbell. When buildin~ our Service
Stations, we qo throuryh additional expenses to have certain
tvpes of rest room fixtures. air conditioned rest rooms,
porcelainizin~ and an attractive store front with a speical
fiber glass canopy, as well as other extra costs to have a
Station so ~ood, it will advertise itself.
I have just made a thorou~h study of this location and
believe that 75% of our business will come from San Jose
and other areas and 25% from Campbell.
San Jose and other areas have a different slanted drivewav
than the City of Campbell. We are in a rather high speed
area, awav from a corner, and feel a number of cars slowin~
down to enter our Station will find it very hazardous. If
they enter a little too quickly and if they slow down too
quickly, there is an opportunity of someone hittin~ them
from the east.
We have an unusual situation in an industrial or cormnercial
area. We would like to have a safe driveway similar to
San Jose, in which tl,e drivewav slants from the property
line gradually and evenlv to the ~utter or a modification
whereby we could drop the approach at the propertv line
ahout 2 inches. This would be similar to the drop at the
curb line which is 5~ inches. After a thorou~h, consider-
ate studv bv you and if same is approved by vou, we would
drop back an additional 6 or 8 feet in makin~ this 2 inch
drop at both ends of each drive.

We are just trying to do our utmost, usin? the ~ood from ou"-
years of experience plus the new ~ood chan~es that are being
made.
We feel some good changes have been made for certain purposes,
that is, with the pedestrian in mind hut at our location. we
feel. there are 999 persons driving past our location in
vehicles compared to everv one person that walks. We hope
that you will concur with us in this letter and help us in
some manner so that we all will set an example of good.

We are anxious to get started but are not anxious to build
something wrong. If we have proper driveways and facilities.
we will then have the ri~ht kind of men in business and build
a successful business that will be a credit to Campbell.
Since so much of this business will come from other places.
we hope that you will help us to be able to compete on drive-
wavs with this thought in mind plus the safety factor which.
we feel, you will also see the more vou studv this letter.
