A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL AUTHORIZING
THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO SUBMIT THE LOS GATOS CREEK BRIDGE
WIDENING AT CAMPBELL A VENUE AS A REVISED
VTP 2020 TIER 1 BICYCLE PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Bicycle Expenditure Program of Valley Transportation Plan (VTP)
2020 adopted by the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VT A) Board of Directors in
December of 2000, includes an allocation for a project to provide improved bicycle/pedestrian
crossing of State Route 17 at Hamilton A venue; and
WHEREAS, a project feasibility study has determined that bicycle/pedestrian
improvements at Hamilton A venue would provide only limited benefits to the community; and
WHEREAS, the project feasibility study has determined that a project to widen the Los
Gatos Creek bridge at Campbell A venue, together with some revisions to the Campbell A venue
undercrossing of State Route 17, would greatly improve bicycle and pedestrian access from the
Bascom A venue corridor to Downtown Campbell and enhance access to the Los Gatos Creek
Trail for all users of this major transportation and recreational facility.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Campbell
that the Public Works Director is hereby authorized to submit the Los Gatos Creek Bridge
Widening at Campbell A venue to VT A as a revised Tier 1 Bicycle Project.
