RESOLUTION NO. 10411
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
COMMENDING SERGEANT KEVIN E. AUSTIN
FOR OVER 30 YEARS OF SERVICE
TO THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
WHEREAS, Sergeant Kevin E. Austin was hired as a Police Officer with the City of Campbell on April 16,
1974;
WHERERAS, Sergeant Austin was promoted to Agent on November 3, 1980;
WHEREAS, Sergeant Austin was promoted to Sergeant on May 30, 1983;
WHEREAS, Sergeant Austin was promoted to Lieutenant on January 20, 1986;
WHEREAS, Sergeant Austin requested a reclassification to Sergeant on July 23, 1990 in order to offer him the
challenges and rewards that he was seeking;
WHEREAS, Sergeant Austin was a catalyst in creating shift unity and professionalism by setting the pace for
shift production;
WHEREAS, Sergeant Austin was given the distinction of being on Santa Clara County's "Top Cop" and "Cop of
the Month" lists;
WHEREAS, Sergeant Austin served as a Field Training Officer (FTO), as Court Liaison, a Sexual Assault
Investigator, the Division Commander of the Detective Division, in the Honor Guard, on the SWAT Team, on the Bike
Patrol, as Quartermaster, and as the Graffiti Abatement Coordinator;
WHEREAS, Sergeant Austin was instrumental in establishing the Department's Uniform Standards Committee,
the Department's Awards Program, and the Department's first Honor Guard;
WHEREAS, Sergeant Austin's reputation is one of dedication, high moral character, dependability, loyalty,
conscientiousness, professionalism, and a team player;
WHEREAS, Sergeant Austin has always had a long-standing commitment to providing superior service to the
Campbell community and his fellow members of the Police Department.
NOW, TIIEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Campbell recognizes and
commends Sergeant Kevin E. Austin on his retirement ITom the City of Campbell for over 30 years of service.
