CC Resolution 10420 RESOLUTION NO. 10420 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL HONORING BERNARD M. STROJNY ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AS CAMPBELL'S CITY MANAGER WHEREAS, Bernard M. Strojny obtained a BA in Government from the University of Notre Dame and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Southern California; WHEREAS, Bernard M. Strojny began his professional career in the private sector working for companies such as the A.C. Nielsen Company, Connecticut General Life Insurance, RCA Corporation and Xerox Corporation; WHEREAS, his path to becoming a City Manager began at the City of Redondo Beach in 1974 where, during his six-year tenure, he advanced up the organization quickly and eventually directed the departmental operations of Budget, Personnel, Employee Relations, Risk Management and Purchasing; and also during this period, he co-founded the Southwest Labor Relations Council; WHEREAS, from 1980 to 1988, Bernard M. Strojny was employed by the City of Walnut Creek as its Administrative Services Director, overseeing the functions of the Finance, Management Information, and Human Resources Divisions; and he also served as the City's Finance Director, Budget Officer, and Deputy City Treasurer; WHEREAS, from 1988 to 1993, Mr. Strojny served as Director of Administrative Services and Assistant City Manager for the City of Irvine wherein he was responsible for the operations of Community Development, Administrative Services and Community Services Departments; WHEREAS, from 1993 to 1996, Bernard M. Strojny worked for the City of Palo Alto as the Assistant City Manager where he oversaw the Departments of Public Works and Community Services and served as Acting City Manager; WHEREAS, Mr. Strojny has successfully served as Campbell's City Manager since 1996; WHEREAS, Bernard M. Strojny has supervised some of the City's most recent significant projects including the $10.4 million Downtown Parking Garage, $7.2 million Community Center Master Plan Improvements, and the $8.7 million renovation of the Heritage Theatre; WHEREAS, Mr. Strojny has taken leadership roles in representing Campbell in regional projects such as the Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority and the Silicon Valley Regional Interoperability Project where he served as the Santa Clara County/Cities Managers' Association representative; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council and staff of the City of Campbell express their deepest appreciation to Bernard ("Bernie") M. Strojny for his years of public service to the City of Campbell, and wish him well on his retirement.
