CC Resolution 10303 RESOLUTION NO. 10303 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL COMMENDING GREGORY ANTHONY "TONY" RUCKER FOR TWELVE YEARS OF SERVICE UPON HIS RETIREMENT WHEREAS, Gregory Anthony "Tony" Rucker began his career with the City of Campbell on February 3, 1992 as a Senior Lighting and Traffic Signal Technician, and WHEREAS, Tony Rucker was promoted to the position of Lighting and Traffic Signal Supervisor on July 14, 1997, and WHEREAS, Tony Rucker has served on the Service Center Safety Committee for the past seven years, placing a strong emphasis on employee safety, and WHEREAS, Tony Rucker has provided invaluable support and assistance on nearly ever major capital project in the City of Campbell over the last 12 years, and WHEREAS, Tony Rucker has always made himself available to respond to signal malfunctions, power outages, or vehicle accidents involving signals or streetlights at any time of the day or night, and WHEREAS, Tony Rucker has saved the City tens of thousands of dollars over his career through his conversion of traffic signals to low-wattage light emitting diode lamps, careful scrutiny of PG&E bills, assistance with the purchase of PG&E-owned streetlights, negotiation of agreements with Caltrans, and diligent follow-up on damage to City equipment, and WHEREAS, Tony pioneered, and now supports, the innovative usage of Programmable Logic Controllers in signals, court lighting and water features throughout the City, and WHEREAS, Tony was responsible for numerous upgrades to the City's signal system, including Uninterruptable Power Supplies, Opticom signal pre-emption, video vehicle detection, audible pedestrian signals, and fiber-optic connections, and WHEREAS, Tony made the "Temporary" Traffic and Lighting Trailer his permanent home for many years, and WHEREAS. Tony's inspection skills, detailed emails, and voice mail messages are legendary, and WHEREAS, Tony's diligence in following Underground Service Alert marking procedures has helped protect the City's underground infrastructure, and WHEREAS, Tony has always dedicated himself to the citizens of Campbell. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Campbell hereby commends Gregory "Tony" Rucker upon his retirement for twelve years of service.
