JOSEPH ELLIOTT DIRECTOR OF PV~LIC ~ORKS . , By: .,' / Date: Del Taco January 3, 1979 Mr. William M. Helms Engineering Manager Department of Public City of Campbell 77 N. Central Avenue Campbell, California Works 95008 Subject: Proposed Del Taco at 771 East Hamilton Avenue at Darryl, Campbell, California Dear Mr. Helms: In response to our meeting on the morning of December 19, 1978, concerning Del Taco's proposed development at the corner of Darryl Drive and Hamilton Avenue, enclosed please find a copy of our revised site drawing, Drawing #A-l. During our meeting on December 19, you stated that your main objections to the layout, as proposed, was the close proximity of the existing drive on Darryl Avenue to the intersection at Hamilton Avenue, and the proposed traffic conflict it would cause at the intersection. After discussing this site for several minutes, I suggested that we relocate the drive further up Darryl Avenue, approximately straight out from the entrance to our drive-thru to reduce the traffic conflict on Darryl Avenue. At the time, you thought this would be an acceptable compromise. The enclosed revised Site Drawing #A-l shows the existing drive on Darryl being relocated approximately 25' further away from the Hamilton Avenue intersection, in line with our drive-thru entrance, but still providing good access to the parking. In addition to this, we have also closed the return from our drive-thru window to the parking lot and replaced it with additional landscaping and a patio between our building and Darryl Drive. We have done this to reduce any possible traffic conflict that may have occurred along the entrance to our parking lot and our drive-thru loop, thus relieving any potential backup that might have occurred on Darryl Drive. f:""'~"'I!7'D R"wt., tN"',,-,.; - "'.. t. ~ - ,r . Helms January 3, 1979 Page 2 It is felt that this added landscaping and patio will reduce traffic flow. Coupled with the relocated drive on Darryl, this will solve the concerns that you expressed in our meeting on December 19, and that the site will now be acceptable from your department's standpoint.
