RESOLUTION NO.
10448
BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CAMPBELL CONGRATULATING
TOM FRANCOIS
ON BEING NAMED "CITIZEN OF THE YEAR FOR 2004"
WHEREAS, Tom Francois, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a
successful small businessman and community volunteer, is worthy of the honor of being
named the Campbell Chamber of Commerce's" 2004 Citizen of the Year"; and
WHEREAS, Tom Francois will be so honored at the Chamber's annual "Celebrate
Campbell" banquet on February 26, 2005; and
WHEREAS, Tom Francois has made the City of Campbell his home for the past forty
years; and
WHEREAS, Tom Francois has contributed greatly to the community over the years,
serving as a Reserve Police Officer, a school volunteer, a Little League coach, a host
on a cable TV cooking show, and currently is an active member of the City of
Campbell Planning Commission and St. Lucy's Catholic Church; and
WHEREAS, Tom Francois has been an inspiration to those around him, exemplified
by his being chosen to carry the Olympic Flame for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt
Lake City; and
WHEREAS, Tom Francois has given unselfish service to his family, church and
community; and
WHEREAS, Tom Francois, since losing a leg to amputation, has been a mentor for
other amputees, and a motivational speaker for schools, churches, and community
groups on overcoming adversity.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Campbell congratulate "Tom Francois" on being selected "2004 Citizen of the Year"
and recognize the many contributions he has made to the Campbell community both
past and present.
