RESOLUTION NO. 10484
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
AUTHORIZING THE ACTING PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO SUBMIT
APPLICA TIONS FOR HAZARD ELIMINATION SAFETY (HES) GRANT
FUNDS FOR FEDERAL FISCAL YEAR 2005/06 FOR
THE TRIPPING HAZARDS PROJECT AND THE RADAR SPEED
FEEDBACK SIGNS PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Tripping Hazards Project would remove and replace uneven sidewalk,
curb and gutter, and pavement; and
WHEREAS, the preliminary engineer's estimate for the Tripping Hazards Project is
$503,855; and
WHEREAS, the Radar Speed Feedback Signs Project would furnish and install radar
signs on streets next to schools or along high-speed arterials; and
WHEREAS, the preliminary engineer's estimate for the Radar Speed Feedback Signs
Project is $99,000; and
WHEREAS, the Hazard Elimination Safety (HES) grant program is a federally-funded
program administered by Caltrans to encourage construction of highway safety projects; and
WHEREAS, the proposed projects are eligible for HES funds; and
WHEREAS, the HES grant program for Federal Fiscal Year 2005/06 requires a ten
percent local match and allows a maximum federal reimbursement of $360,000 per project; and
WHEREAS, the Tripping Hazards Project would require a $143,855 local match and be
eligible for a maximum federal reimbursement of $360,000; and
WHEREAS, the Radar Speed Feedback Signs Project would require a $9,900 local match
and be eligible for a maximum federal reimbursement of $89,100.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Campbell
that the Acting Public Works Director is hereby authorized to execute and submit Hazard
Elimination Safety grant applications for funding under the Hazard Elimination Safety Grant
Program in the amounts of $503,855 for the Tripping Hazards Project and $99,000 for the Radar
Speed Feedback Signs project; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Campbell will provide a total of
$153,755 in local matching funds for the proposed projects.
