RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL AUTHORIZING
DISPENSATION WITH FORMAL BID PROCESS AND ISSUANCE OF A REQUEST
FOR PROPOSAL (RFP) FOR DESIGN, PROCUREMENT, AND INSTALLATION OF
CABLECASTING EQUIPMENT
WHEREAS, the City of Campbell first began cablecasting in 1997;
WHEREAS, the City's cablecasting equipment is becoming obsolete or reaching the end of its
service life;
WHEREAS, Comcast has provided the City with a one-time grant of $450,000 as one of its
franchise obligations to the City towards the replacement and upgrade of the City's cablecasting
equipment;
WHEREAS, there will be no impact upon the City's General Fund for the procurement of new
cablecasting-related audio and video equipment;
WHEREAS, in preparation for the development of a comprehensive RFP, staff has visited
comparable cablecasting studios in neighboring government agencies that provide cablecasting
comparable programming; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager's Office staff represents that conditions for dispensing with the formal
bid process apply as required by Campbell Municipal Code 3.20.091.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Campbell hereby
determines that it is in the best interest of the City to dispense with the formal bide process for he
design¡ procurement¡ and installation of new cablecasting equipment.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLEVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell authorizes the City
Manager's Office to issue an RFP for the design¡ procurement and installation of new cablecasting
equipment.
