CC Resolution 10580 RESOLUTION NO. 10580 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL AUTHORIZING A ONE-TIME DONATION TO THE SANTA CLARA VALLEY CHAPTER OF THE AMERICAN RED CROSS IN SUPPORT OF RELIEF EFFORTS FOR VICTIMS OF HURRICANE KA TRINA WHEREAS, Hurricane Katrina destroyed many communities and displaced residents in the Gulf Coast region; and WHEREAS, thousands of people have suffered loss of their homes, jobs, communities, loved ones; and WHEREAS, the City of San Jose, County of Santa Clara, Santa Clara County Chapter of the American Red Cross, and San Jose State University have established an interim Recovery Center at San Jose State University's Spartan Village for Hurricane Katrina victims and their families arriving in the South Bay; and WHEREAS, the American Red Cross is the official point of 'entry' for services to evacuees and they are providing a variety of services to evacuees; and WHEREAS, the City of Campbell desires to join this regional response along with other South Bay cities by making a one-time donation to the Santa Clara County Chapter of the American Red Cross not to exceed $20,000 which approximately equals $0.50 per Campbell resident; and WHEREAS, as a condition of this donation, the Santa Clara County Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold the funds in a designated account; and WHEREAS, the City and its residents would benefit from Red Cross services in times of a local disaster; and WHEREAS, Santa Clara County Chapter of the American Red Cross will be required to track how the City of Campbell's donation is being used to benefit evacuees of the Gulf Coast hurricane disaster temporarily residing in Santa Clara County and to provide periodic accounting reports to the City of Campbell. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Campbell City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute a Budget Adjustment from 101.3799 to 101.510.7432 for an expenditure of up to $20,000 as a donation to the Santa Clara County Chapter of the American Red Cross in support of relief efforts for Gulf Coast evacuees temporarily residing in Santa Clara County.
