PC Res 2831RESOLUTION NO. 2831
BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF CAMPBELL APPROVING WALL MOUNTED SIGNS
AND A MONUMENT SIGN ON PROPERTY LOCATED AT 600
EAST HAMILTON AVENUE, IN A PD (PLANNED
DEVELOPMENT) ZONING DISTRICT. APPLICATION OF FRY'S
ELECTRONICS, INC. FILE NO. S 92-11
After notification and Public Hearing as specified by law on the application of
Fry's Electronics, Inc. approving wall mounted signs and a monument sign
on property located at 600 East Hamilton Avenue, in a PD (Planned
Development) Zoning District, as per the application filed in the Planning
Department on November 12, 1992; and, after presentation by the Planning
Director, proponents and opponents, the hearing was closed.
After due consideration of all evidence presented, the Planning Commission
did find as follows with respect to File No. S 92-11.
The proposed size of the signs are reasonable given the limited frontage
(less than 150 feet) on an arterial street, and setback distance of 300 feet
from the building to the street and is of appropriate scale to reasonably
identify the business location.
The maximum sign height and area is reasonable for a development
exceeding 7 acres and a retail store in excess of 60,000 square feet.
o
Additional signage in excess of what is permitted in the Sign Ordinance
is appropriate for this development due to the site having frontage on
two streets and Highway 17.
o
The additional building mounted sign and proposed sign area will aid in
identifying and directing traffic to this site.
The site is obscured by its limited frontage on Hamilton Avenue and
numerous trees along the freeway right-of-way.
Based upon the foregoing findings of fact, the Planning Commission finds
and concludes that:
The use is of such size and is so located in reference to surrounding uses
and the traffic circulation system that additional signage is warranted.
The proposed signage is in keeping with the principles and purposes of
the Sign Ordinance.

o

the neighborhood or the City as a whole.

building mounted signs and one, 15 foot high free-standing sign as
