RESOLUTION NO. 10661
A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE
CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY PLAN
WHEREAS, the City Manager is required by Section 2.12.030 of the Campbell Municipal Code
to prepare and submit to the City Council recommendations for the reorganization of offices,
departments, and positions which are considered to be in the best interest of efficient, effective
and economical conduct of the municipal services provided by the City; and
WHEREAS, Section 2.16.010 of the Campbell Municipal Code requires that salaries and wages
of all employees of the City be fixed by ordinance or resolution and;
WHEREAS, a review has been conducted; and
WHEREAS, an amendment to the current Classification and Salary Plan is needed to meet the
requirements of Municipal Code Section 2.12.030.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell does
hereby approve the recommendations for the reclassification of Museum Curator to Senior
Museum Specialist and the new class specification for Museum Education Coordinator as
outlined in the Council Report.

SENIOR MUSEUM SPECIALIST
Under direction, to plan, coordinate, and organize a variety of services,
programs, and activities associated with the Historic Resources Division of the
Recreation and Community Services Department; and to do related work as
required.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Plans, schedules, implements, and evaluates a variety of division programs and
services; develops exhibit themes and layouts; serves as museum curator;
coordinates, designs and implements Museum exhibits and programs; recruits,
trains and supervises museum staff; leads and coordinates volunteer docent
activities; researches and writes reports; catalogs, preserves and conserves
historic objects; archives materials and photographs; coordinates administrative
and business operations; reviews and implements policies relating to collections
management and public programming; serves as a resource in matters relating
to the rehabilitation of historic buildings in the museum complex; coordinates and
supervises public relations activities and the development of promotional
materials for the museum and related activities; oversees acceptance of
artifacts, archival materials and donations to the museum; administers museum
collections; assists researchers in use of museum resources; responds to history
related requests makes public presentations and interprets exhibits; assists in
budget preparation and grant applications; contributes to and designs all
publications including quarterly newsletter; advises the City's Historic
Preservation Board; and performs other related work as required.

Education and Experience:
Knowledge of:

Graduation from college with major course work in
museum studies/management, history, social
sciences, anthropology, public administration or
related field. and two years of experience in
museum administration and/or historic
preservation.
Principles, practices and methods of museum
/historical site collection, inventory and
preservation; research and survey methods;
archival retention and preservation techniques;
computer software including word-processing,
spreadsheets, graphics and publications.

MUSEUM EDUCATION COORDINATOR
DEFINITION
Under supervision, to plan, coordinate, develop and evaluate the education and
outreach programs related to the Historic Resources Division of the Recreation
and Community Services Department; to perform a variety of clerical work
including reception, document preparation, file maintenance and record keeping;
and to do related work as required.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Plan, schedule, coordinate, and evaluate a variety of educational programs
including the Ainsley House outreach program; work with teachers/schools in
developing program curriculum; create and implement learning materials to meet
California standards and curricula; plan, organize and schedule events; process
rental permits, collect fees, admissions and donations; coordinate Ainsley House
Garden rentals; recruit, train, supervise and schedule volunteers; answer
phones, greet visitors and provide general museum information; develop public
information and publicity materials; prepare documents, maintain records, use
computer applications to create brochures, flyers and written reports; orders
supplies; responsible for set up and take down of Museum's school program
equipment and furnishings; build and maintain positive working relationships with
other employees and the public; and perform related work as required.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education and Experience:
Graduation from college with major course work in
education, history, museum studies, social
sciences, public administration or related field.
Responsible experience related to the assigned
program area is desirable.
