A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO EXECUTE A COST-SHARING
AGREEMENT FOR THE LANDSCAPING ELEMENT OF THE SAN TOMAS
EXPRESSWAY/HAMILTON AVENUE INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
AND APPROVING A BUDGET ADJUSTMENT
WHEREAS, the General Plan encourages gateways at the city's boundaries and
identifies the San Tomas Expressway/Hamilton Avenue intersection as a gateway; and
WHEREAS, the County of Santa Clara was awarded about $1.2 million in federal funds
and about $1 million in Measure B funds for the San Tomas Expressway/Hamilton
Avenue Intersection Improvement Project; and
WHEREAS, landscaping work is not eligible for the Federal and Measure B funds
awarded to the County; and
WHEREAS, the City of Campbell has collected about $73,500 in development fees to
install landscaping on San Tomas Expressway at Hamilton Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the $73,500 in development fees can be used to design and construct a
monument sign and a limited number of low-maintenance trees and/or shrubs north of
Hamilton Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the City of Campbell and the County of Santa Clara would need to execute
a cost-sharing agreement to share the design and construction costs for the landscaping
work; and
WHEREAS, a budget adjustment would be required to transfer the development fees to
the County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Campbell
that the Public Works Director is hereby authorized to execute a cost-sharing
agreement with the County of Santa Clara for the design and construction of the
landscaping component of the San Tomas Expressway/Hamilton Avenue Intersection
Improvement Project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council approves a budget adjustment that
would allow the City of Campbell to transfer development fees to the County of Santa
Clara for the landscaping work.

REASON FOR REQUEST (BE SPECIFIC):
City collected funds from Pulte Homes and Nextel to landscape San Tomas Expressway at Hamilton Avenue.
Council authorized this budget adjustment per City Council Resolution No. _ (see attached).
