Dear Mr. Kee:
This is in response to your letter dated August IS, 1985 regarding the way
in which this project's significant environmental effects are to be
mitigated.
With respect to the potential noise impact, a noise study has been
completed by Edward L. Pack Associates, Inc. A copy of this report is
enclosed for your review. As indicated in the report the planned
subdivision is not subjected to excessive noise from the recycling center
operation or from other sources. Therefore, no special noise mitigation
measures should be required.
The attached plan of the tentative map shown the proposed building layout
for lots one (1) and eleven (11). Even though impacted by the P.G. & E.
easement, a two-story 2,200 square feet structure can be put on lot one
(1) and a two-story 1,800 square feet structure on lot eleven (11). City
setback requirements can still be met with this layout. Lots five (5) and
six (6), although smaller in gross area than lot eleven (11), have greater
net buildable area and there will be no problem in attaining desired
building square footages of 1,800 to 2,000 square feet.
The recycling center processes aluminum cans, glass bottles, newspapers
and cardboard. Hazardous substances are not used or stored as part of
this operation. Additionally, there are no plans for these materials as a
part of the center's operations. However, should this change at a future
date, hazardous materials will be stored and handled in conformance with
State la~" and the requirements of the City of Campbell hazardous materials
ordi nance.
The effects of minimal dust generated from industrial uses will be
mitigated by the addition of oil and screenings to those portions of major
travelled ways which are not currently asphalt paVement. Dust control on
lesser areas shall be achieved by waterin3 on an "as-needed" basis.

Dear Mr. Penoyer:
A review has been made of the tentative subdivision map submitted with
your letter of July 1, 1985. This map showed the joint use of Pacific
Gas and Electric Company's easement for the Metcalf-El Patio 115 kV
tower line and the proposed subdivision.
We have electric transmission facilities installed on the property by
virtue of the easement granted to PGandE by John N. Stojanovich and
others by deed dated October 26, 1956, and recorded in Book 3687 of
Official Records at page 156, Santa Clara County Recorder's Office.
The easement is a eighty (80) foot wide strip of land and, among other
conditions detailed in the document, stipulates that the property owner
may use the area within the easement for any purpose not inconsistent
with PGandE's use, but the easement is building restricted; therefore,
no buildings or other structures can be permitted. Because of this the
owner may wish to review the subdivision's layout.
Some potential compatible uses which may be made of the eighty (80)
foot easement would be parking and landscaping with some limitations.
Written consent for uses within the easements must first be obtained;
therefore, please submit final design plans to this office when they
are prepared.
