RESOLUTION NO. 10683
RESOLUTION AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY PLAN
WHEREAS, The City Manager is required by Section 2.12.030 of the Campbell Municipal
code to prepare and submit to the City Council recommendations for the reorganization
of offices, departments, and positions which are considered to be in the best interest of
efficient, effective and economical conduct of the municipal services provided by the City;
and
WHEREAS, Title 2, Section 2.16.020 of the Campbell Municipal Code provides that the
City Council may, from time to time, by resolution, change the compensation of
employees of said City, and may, by resolution, adopt salary and wage scales; and
WHEREAS, a review has been conducted; and
WHEREAS, an amendment to the current Classification and Salary Plan is needed to
meet the requirements of Municipal Code Section 2.12.030.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
does hereby approve the revised job description of Building Maintenance Lead Worker
(Exhibit B) and title change as outlined in the Council Report.

CITY OF CAMPBELL
BUILDING MAINTENANCE LEAD WORKER
DEFINITION
Under direction performs and supervises a variety of custodial, building maintenance,
and set-up duties at assigned City buildings; and performs related skilled building
maintenance work as required.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Assigns, supervises and assists with a variety of custodial and maintenance work in
municipal buildings; supervises building maintenance employees and participates in
maintenance work; supervises and assists in setting up of equipment and arranging of
furniture according to verbal and written instructions; opens and closes buildings;
performs minor repairs to equipment, furniture, plumbing fixtures, electrical outlets and
other objects; installs and adjusts thermostats; prepares custodial service schedules
and supervises work performed by contractual custodial services; requisitions and
controls inventories of supplies and equipment; operates and maintains heating and
ventilating systems; may be responsible for pool maintenance including cleaning,
chemical testing and treatment, and pump and filter repair; supervises and assists with
painting projects; may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays; and
performs other related work as required.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education and Experience: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. Four years
of responsible experience in building maintenance or
related field to include semi-skilled carpentry, plumbing,
painting and electrical work.
Knowledge of: Fundamental provisions of various codes pertaining to
maintenance and repair of buildings, custodial
maintenance; minor repair maintenance; heating and
ventilating systems; pump maintenance and operations;
generator maintenance and operations; safety practices
and equipment; supplies and equipment used in custodial
and maintenance work; supervisory principles.
Ability to: Plan, supervise and assist with custodial maintenance,
and set-up work; work well with limited supervision;
operate mobile radio communications equipment; prepare
schedules, reports, and requisitions; schedule and
complete work assignments in a timely manner; work a
flexible work schedule which may include evenings,
weekends and holidays. Train and lead others in semi-
skilled repair and maintenance work, use power tools and
equipment safely; understand and carry out written and
oral instructions; set priorities for completion of projects;
ability to climb ladders and perform work at heights;

operate a variety of motorized equipment such as fork
lifts, scissor lifts, pressure washing equipment etc.;
perform skilled maintenance; construction and repair
work; draw sketches and plan for assigned projects,
estimate materials needed, record time and material used;
read blue prints; maintain physical condition appropriate to
the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities
which may include walking or sitting for extended periods
of time and operating assigned equipment and vehicles;
intermittently, sit while driving, completing formsl work
papers; stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist and reach
while inspecting or repairing, digging or clearing; perform
simple and power grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine
manipulation; distinguish colors used in marking utility
facilities, and lift or carry weight of 100 pounds or less;
establish and maintain effective working relationships with
those contracted in the course of work.
Possession of:
Valid California Driver's License.
