RESOLUTION NO. 10701
RESOLUTION AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY PLAN
WHEREAS, The City Manager is required by Section 2.12.030 of the Campbell
Municipal code to prepare and submit to the City Council recommendations for the
reorganization of offices, departments, and positions which are considered to be in the
best interest of efficient, effective and economical conduct of the municipal services
provided by the City; and
WHEREAS, Title 2, Section 2.16.020 of the Campbell Municipal Code provides
that the City Council may, from time to time, by resolution, change the compensation of
employees of said City, and may, by resolution, adopt salary and wage scales; and
WHEREAS, a review has been conducted; and
WHEREAS, an amendment to the current Classification and Salary Plan IS
needed to meet the requirements of Municipal Code Section 2.12.030.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Campbell does hereby approve the revised job description of Building Maintenance
Worker (Exhibit A) and recommendations for class specification changes as outlined in
the Council Report.

CITY OF CAMPBELL
BUILDING MAINTENANCE WORKER
DEFINITION
Under general supervIsion, to perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks of
routine difficulty in the care and maintenance of City buildings.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Performs a variety of maintenance tasks, including, but not limited to, performing
carpentry and plumbing work; maintaining the chemical balance in the swimming pool;
maintaining pool filtration and heating equipment as well as boilers and HVAC
equipment; responding to maintenance work orders submitted by City Departments;
troubleshooting electrical problems and performing routine repairs; drives and operates
pickup trucks, forklifts, scissor lifts and boom lifts; uses a variety of tools such as power
saws, hand saws, drills, pliers, wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, ladders and other
tools and equipment; may assist in directing scheduled work of outside contractors;
may supervise temporary workers; and performs other related work as required.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education and Experience: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. Two years
of directly related experience in building maintenance
work.
Knowledge of: Safe electrical, plumbing and carpentry practices; safe
use of hand and power tools; HVAC principles and
equipment; simple preventive maintenance procedures;
pumps and pump mechanisms; safety practices and
precautions to be used in work; equipment operation
safety; materials, tools, equipment, supplies & procedures
used in custodial and building maintenance work.
Ability to Perform all assigned duties in the areas of building
maintenance, custodial work & pool maintenance; perform
tasks requiring normal physical dexterity; follow oral and
written instructions; read, write & understand English;
keep simple records & prepare routine reports; perform
basic arithmetic calculations; make simple measurements;
read & interpret blueprints & sketches; operate mobile
radio communications equipment; climb ladders and
perform work at considerable heights; lift weights of 20 -
100 pounds; complete assignments with limited direct
supervision; troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, pool and
HVAC problems; deal effectively with public and work
flexible work schedule which may include evenings,
weekends and holidays.
Possession of: Valid California Driver's License.
