RESOLUTION NO. 10735
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
AUTHORIZING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT
WITH THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS/MONTE SERENO POLICE DEPARTMENT TO
FORMALIZE THE CREATION OF A REGIONALIZED SPECIAL WEAPONS AND
TACTICS (SWAT) AND HOSTAGE NEGOTIATIONS TEAM (HNT) AND TO
AUTHORIZE STAFF TO EXECUTE FUTURE AMENDMENTS AND AGREEMENTS.
WHEREAS, the City of Campbell and the Town of Los Gatos/Monte Sereno share not
only a common boundary and proximity but also overlapping demands for Police
responses often due to high-risk/critical incidents which require the specialized attention
of a team trained specifically to be effective in highly volatile situations; and
WHEREAS, the Police Departments of the City of Campbell and the Town of Los Gatos
have long recognized that mutual aid and cooperation in response to critical incidents
can be enhanced and made more flexible and effective by combining forces for hostage
negotiation and special weapons and tactics purposes; and
WHEREAS, the Police Departments of the City of Campbell and the Town of Los Gatos
now desire to formally establish and confirm the framework for this cooperative effort as
well as to clarify the legal relationships which result from that ongoing cooperative
arrangement;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute an agreement and any future
amendments necessary during this agreement for the development of the Regionalized
SWAT/HNT teams.
