RESOLUTION NO. 10740_
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
COMMENDING MARLENE POMEROY FOR 18.5 YEARS OF SERVICE
TO THE CITY OF CAMPBELL UPON HER RETIREMENT
WHEREAS, Marlene Pomeroy was hired by the City of Campbell on August 1, 1988; and
WHEREAS, Marlene Pomeroy began her career in the City of Campbell's Redevelopment
Agency as a Principal Clerk, a position she held for five years; and
WHEREAS, Marlene transferred to the Public Works Department in August, 1993, where
she has works as a Secretary and Executive Assistant for over 13 years; and
WHEREAS, Marlene Pomeroy was involved in many key projects such as the Downtown
Streetscape project, the relocation of the Ainsley House, the renovation of the Community
Center and Heritage Theatre, the development of the Second Street Parking Garage, Jack
Fischer and Edith Morley Parks, and the renovation of John D. Morgan, Campbell and
Virginia parks and playgrounds; and
WHEREAS, Marlene Pomeroy has served as the Recording Secretary to the Parks and
Recreation Commission for the past 18 years; and
WHEREAS, Marlene Pomeroy has represented the City well on the County Recycling and
Waste Reduction Commission Technical Advisory Committee; and
WHEREAS, Marlene Pomeroy has held every position on the Board of Directors of the
Campbell Municipal Employees Association; and
WHEREAS, Marlene Pomeroy was instrumental in the implementation and organization of
"Clean Your Files Day" wherein each department in the City is encouraged to recycle not
only paper, but other office equipment and supplies, which saves precious resources such
as trees, but also reduces waste into our landfills; and
WHEREAS, Marlene Pomeroy was involved in the development and management of the
City of Campbell's first Community Garden at Edith Morley Park; and
WHEREAS, Marlene Pomeroy's beautiful quilts grace the Public Works Conference Room,
which is known throughout City Hall as the "Quilt Room"; and
WHEREAS, Marlene Pomeroy has continuously provided excellent customer service to
the residents of Campbell and her coworkers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell does
hereby express its appreciation to Marlene Pomeroy for eighteen years of loyal and
valuable service and best wishes for a fulfilling retirement.
