RESOLUTION NO. 10232
A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE
CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY PLAN
WHEREAS, the City Manager is required by Section 2.12.030 of the Campbell
Municipal Code to prepare and submit to the City Council recommendations for the
reorganization of offices, departments, and positions which are considered to be in the best
interest of efficient, effective and economical conduct of the municipal services provided by
the City; and
WHEREAS, a review has been conducted; and
WHEREAS, an amendment to the current Classification and Salary Plan is needed to
meet the requirements of Municipal Code Section 2.12.030; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
does hereby approve the new job description of Lighting and Traffic Signal Assistant (Exhibit
A) and the recommended salary range of $3826.08 - $4653.26 per month.

EXHIBIT A
LIGHTING AND TRAFFIC SIGNAL ASSISTANT
DEFINITION
Under general supervision, performs electrical tasks in the maintenance and repair of
street lights and traffic signal equipment; re-Iamping traffic signals; cleaning graffiti from
signal and lighting poles and traffic cabinets; responds to Underground Service Alert
notifications; and does related work as required.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Inspects, removes, and repairs street light standards and illuminated street sign names;
investigates complaints and reports of signal and traffic light malfunctions; adjusts,
repairs, or removes defective equipment; may make field repairs of damaged
equipment; may inspect the work of contractors during the course of construction and
upon completion; re-Iamps signalized intersections and street lights; cleans graffiti from
street lighting and traffic signal poles, cabinets and other related equipment; paints light
and signal standards; clean traffic controller cabinet interior; responds to Underground
Service Alert notifications and marks City owned underground electrical lines; keeps
accurate work records; performs general electrical repairs at municipal facilities as
required; and performs other related duties as required.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education and Experience:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and one
year of experience in traffic signal or
electrical/electronic repair or electrical inspection work.
Knowledge of:
Theory and principles of electrical and electronic
equipment and circuits; tools and equipment used to
repair electrical and electronic equipment and
installations; methods and procedures used to repair
and maintain traffic signal and lighting systems;
occupational hazards and standard safety precautions.
Ability to:
Test and repair electrical and electronic equipment,
outdoor lighting systems, and traffic signal equipment
and installations; perform duties while elevated above
traffic in basket of a boom truck; establish and
maintain effective working relationships; work at odd
and irregular hours as required by job assignments.
Possession of:
Valid California Driver's License.
