RESOLUTION NO. 10750
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO SUBMIT
AN APPLICATION FOR LOCAL STREETS AND COUNTY ROADS (LSCR)
PROGRAM FUNDS FOR THE BIKE/PED TUNNELS ON CAMPBELL AVENUE AT
HIGHWAY 17 PROJECT (TUNNEL PROJECT) PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Bike/Ped Tunnels on Campbell Avenue at Highway 17 Project (Project) entails
the design and construction of bikeway and sidewalk improvements, asphalt concrete work, and
wing and retaining walls; and
WHEREAS, an initial cost estimate of $2,000,000 was prepared is 2003; and
WHEREAS, a revised project cost estimate of $3,000,000 has been developed; and
WHEREAS, the Local Streets and County Roads (LSCR) grant program is a federal- and state-
funded program administered by the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) to
encourage connectivity of local streets and county roads for multiple modes of transportation;
and
WHEREAS, the Project would encourage walking and bicycling along LSCR and is therefore
eligible for LSCR funding; and
WHEREAS, LSCR projects must be approved via a publicly-noticed City Councilor Board of
SupeNisors action that commits future local funding; and
WHEREAS, the LSCR grant program requires a 20 percent local match of $600,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Campbell that the
Public Works Director is hereby authorized to execute and file a Local Streets and County
Roads grant application for funding under the Local Streets and County Roads Grant Program
in the amount of $3,000,000 for the Campbell Avenue/Highway 17 Street Improvements Project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Campbell will secure and provide $600,000 for
the Project in matching funds.
